Don and Linda Coulter have been professional horse trainers and teachers since 1964. They have a very diverse background with horses, which includes rodeos, polo, racehorses, reining, barrel racing, hunters and jumpers. Don’s passion is starting and training young horses and helping “problem/troubled” horses. Linda’s passion is teaching students to properly ride first then to compete at all levels. One of Don’s first successes was training a horse considered to be an outlaw that he first rode as a bareback bronc in a rodeo. After Don gentled him and started his training, Linda took over and he became the top barrel racing horse in the state.
Don and Linda have bred, raised and trained horses that were sold to team members in Belgium, Canada, U.S., Mexico and Venezuela. Some of the top performers included Year of the Cat winning a World Cup class, Wet Paint setting a high jump record, Fair Swap winning Horse of the Year in Canada and Stormy winning the South American Junior finals. Don has also retrained numerous racehorses to be successful polo ponies. Two of which were voted Polo Pony of the Year at the Oakbrook Polo Club. Four horses that Don trained were voted 1st through 4th at the Naperville Polo Club. Exotic animals such as camels, zebras and giraffes have also been added to the training schedule over the past several years.

Don and Linda brought their winning Coulter Common Sense Horsemanship system to Naples, FL in 2000 and are continuing to teach and train all levels of riders and horses.
Our mission is to bring out the best in both horses and riders, and for both to enjoy the journey!
